Writer-director Jeff Gross lived on Astypalea for 14 months from 1980 to 1982 (see photo). He is the director of the multi-award-winning feature film "Return to Eden," aka "Hope".

He is the co-writer of several films with Roman Polanski, including "Frantic" with Harrison Ford, and the cult film "Bitter Moon" with Peter Coyote, Hugh Grant, Emanuelle Seigner and Kristin Scott Thomas.
