The Story:
Sometimes the journey you never planned becomes the one that changes your life.
1980.
Josef Klein is 28 years old and should be beginning the happiest journey of his life.
Instead, he has been left at the altar.
His honeymoon to Greece is already planned, the tickets are purchased, and the wedding ring is still in its box.
Rather than remain home surrounded by sympathetic friends, family and painful reminders of the future he thought he was going to have, Josef makes an impulsive decision.
He takes the honeymoon alone.
A ferry carries him across the brilliant blue Aegean toward Astypalea.
Josef arrives expecting isolation.
Astypalea has other plans.
He is gradually absorbed into a small island community filled with unforgettable personalities, humor, traditions, friendships and a way of living completely different from the hurried American life he left behind.
Here, schedules matter less.
People matter more.
Life follows the seasons, the sea and its own rhythm.
Island Time.
As Josef is increasingly drawn into the island and its people, the future he thought he understood begins to look very different.
And just when he has convinced himself that romance is the last thing he wants, he encounters the possibility of a relationship he never expected.
She isn't a replacement for the woman who left him.
She represents something entirely different:
The possibility of another future.
The honeymoon Josef was supposed to take with someone else becomes a journey of discovery.
Of Greece.
Of friendship.
Of love.
And ultimately, of himself.
What began as the saddest journey of his life becomes a second chance.
Not simply at romance.
But at life.
Logline:
After being left at the altar, a 28-year-old American takes his honeymoon alone to a remote Greek island, where an unforgettable cast of islanders—and an unexpected new love—teach him that sometimes losing the life you planned is the only way to discover the life you were meant to live.
